Program Options

Split-Week
PICA’s regular Head Start option, attended by the majority of PICA’s Head Start children, operates on a “split-week” model. Most of PICA’s children attend classes six hours a day, two or three days a week, from September through early June.

From September through mid-January, “A session” children attend classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and “B session” children attend classes on Thursday and Friday. In mid-January, the “A” & “B” session switch schedules. “B session” children attend classes on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and “A session” children attend classes on Monday & Tuesday.
