Men Are Important

In 1982, PICA initiated the Male Pancake Breakfast, which as time passed, gave rise to a full package of activities and services for men, now called PICA's Men Are Important program. Over 125 males have participated in our Men Are Important program activities this year, which aside from regular monthly meetings, have included the following events for fathers and their children: evening dinners, a bowling trip, a Fall trip tubing down the river, a movie night, a weekend tennis tournament, and a 2003 Fatherhood Literacy Conference.

A male involvement committee made up of male staff members (25 percent of our staff are male!) and parents meet monthly to plan special events and support male involvement initiatives at PICA.
