New Lease on Life

Through this program PICA provides financial assistance to Head Start homeless families for such costs as a damage deposit, first and last month’s rent, and application fees.

To participate in New Lease on Life, a family has to agree to intensive case management services and ongoing home visits for an extended period of time. A key component of the program is the series of five Life Skills Workshops designed to provide support and education to homeless families in and effort to prevent future homelessness. Those workshops include:

  • Housing Issues
  • “Home Sweet Home”: How to bring harmony into your home
  • Financial Planning
  • Job Seeking and Keeping Skills
  • Safety, Housekeeping and Home Management.
