PICA U
PICA U is the name of our competency-based training and development program. It is designed to promote program quality, as well as the personal and professional development of all PICA employees. Moreover, it is intended to promote the attainment of college credit within an educational climate that values the knowledge, experiences and resources of low-income children and families as it develops staff members who are racially and culturally reflective of Head Start families.
Because PICA prioritizes the hiring of parents, PICA-U provides direct access to training and education for people who have often faced barriers to opportunity.
PICA U refers to the formal process of shaping its staff development program into curriculum that ultimately will be submitted for college credit. PICA will work to expand collaborative agreements with local colleges and universities in order to grant college credit for completion of competency-based training courses.
